I wanted to learn Thai to enhance my experience here. Being too young for a retirement visa the ED visa is an added bonus as it takes the hassle out of staying long term. It only took 3 days processing at the Thai Consulate! The classes at TLS are small and informal, which makes it fun to learn, and the text book used is excellent.  I particularly enjoy learning to read and write, it requires a bit more effort but will eventually help me to speak better than using transliteration. If you are looking to get away for awhile I can highly recommend living in Thailand and studying at TLS. It only requires 4 hours of class a week leaving plenty of time to enjoy yourself, and to practise!
