Student ED (Education) Visa FAQ

The 1 Year ED (student) Visa

Our school provides all the necessary legal documents which you take with you to one of the designated countries that have a Thai consulate. Upon returning to Thailand, you receive the standard permit to stay for 90 days, and the extension for the rest of the year is granted at local immigration offices for a fee of 1,900 THB.

One does not have to leave the country after that, nor pay any additional fees. You can now enjoy staying in Thailand worry-free for one year.

What's it going to cost me?

The school fee for the classes taken and all documentation is 22,000 THB. The only other fee is the 1,900 THB immigration fee after your first 90 days in the Kingdom. Then every 3 months when you get your new visa.

How many and how often are the lessons?

Students receive 180 classes with a certified Thai instructor

Students are required to take 4 lessons per week. We offer the easy option of 2 lessons 2 days per week, or 4 lessons 1 time per week.

 Applying could never be easier!

Simply bring your passport to our school, with 12 recent passport photos (3x4cm) and the cost of the lessons. We'll take care of the rest.

I'm in a hurry, how long do I have to wait for the visa?

The application letter from the Ministry of Education for the ED visa usually takes 2-3 weeks. That's normal and very reliable. You will have to take the letter to one of the Thai consulates in one of the many neighboring countries; Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia or Singapore. Nationals of India, China, Pakistan and some Middle Eastern countries may need to go back to the country where the passport was issued. Ask us! The Thai consulate will attach the visa to your passport, where it is stamped upon arrival into Thailand. We take the new visa and apply for the 1 year extension by certifying to the Ministry of Education that you are in fact enrolled with our school. And that's it! No more visa runs!

How many years can I continue to be a student in Thailand?

Anyone can study for 1 year, or as many as10 years! All students have to renew their ED visa just like any other long stay visa once per year. Our school monitors its students and helps make the process easy and worry free.

Can you guarantee that I will receive the 1 year non-imm ED visa?

Simple answer is yes. This process is part of our everyday normal business activity and we are leaders in the industry. We are recognized by the Thai Ministry of Education as a school that promotes Thai language and culture through our program.

We can help you obtain your ED visa before you come to Thailand by sending all the required paperwork to your country. Please feel free to contact us on this matter.

Can all nationalities apply and receive the ED visa?

Yes, all nationalities qualify. The Ministry of Education does not make any distinction among students coming form different countries. Europeans, Asians and Africans are treated the same and all are welcome to study Thai and learn about the Thai culture.

Which Nationalities have to apply for the ED visa in their country?

Contact the Thai Immigration website for an updated listing of countries that require applicants to process their ED visas prior to arriving in Thailand. You can also check here:
